FM-CODEX FAQ

Answers based on the official FM-CODEX documentation.

Technical specifications and dependencies

FM-CODEX requires a valid Claris FileMaker Pro license, and if needed, feel free to contact us.

FM-CODEX works with all FileMaker versions from version 18 onward.

However, if you want to paste the result of a script with script steps that are not compatible with your version, it will not work.

FM-CODEX uses the Base-Elements plugin. If it is not installed, it will be installed the first time the database is opened.

How does it work?

When you ask an artificial intelligence for a FileMaker script, it is not possible to copy it directly into a script in a FileMaker database.

With FM-CODEX, copy the script in text format provided by the AI and paste the text into FM-CODEX.

Then click COPY, a thumb appears and copies it to your computer clipboard in a FileMaker-compatible format.

Then paste it into your script window and the script steps will be created automatically.

Attention, there must be only one script step per line.

What are the buttons for?

top left: select the language of your choice
top center: new record
top right: version display window
bottom left: history of copied scripts
bottom center: copy button for the script when it is ready

Why is nothing created?

If nothing is created when you paste into the script window, please send us the script text you want to create by email to this address hello@fm-codex.io.

Why do some lines become comments?

Unfortunately, not all AI systems are able to create script steps that actually exist in FileMaker, so FM-CODEX will create a comment line starting with the character ▶︎.

Why are calculations sent into fields and variables as text?

At the moment it is not possible to check in advance whether the instructions given by the AI are valid and functional. To avoid being unable to create the line, we create the calculation in text format, which you can then complete.

Why are script parameters not retrieved?

Since each script parameter can have several possible values, we are not able to recreate the parameters for every script step.
